Bringing Food Relief to Those Who Need It Most

On 2 May 2019, Mushtaq Development Foundation organised a Ration Distribution Drive at Government School, Lutafabad, Multan. The drive was designed to provide direct food relief to underprivileged families in the Lutafabad area — families where consistent access to basic food staples is a daily struggle.

Lutafabad is a densely populated neighbourhood in Multan where a significant portion of residents live below or near the poverty line, relying on daily wages with little financial buffer. MDF chose Government School as the distribution point to ensure the venue was familiar, accessible, and trustworthy to the local community.

Each ration pack was assembled to provide a family with meaningful food security for several weeks — containing staple items that form the foundation of a Pakistani household's diet. Every pack was distributed completely free of charge, with no conditions attached.

"Food is the most fundamental form of care. When a family does not have to worry about their next meal, everything else becomes possible."

— Andleeb Mushtaq, President, Mushtaq Development Foundation

Reaching Lutafabad's Families

The drive targeted families in the Lutafabad area who face genuine food insecurity — daily-wage workers, widows, large households with limited income, and elderly residents with no earning family members. The distribution was conducted openly and equitably, ensuring the most vulnerable residents were prioritised.

Why Government School, Lutafabad

The choice of Government School, Lutafabad as the distribution venue was deliberate. Government schools are universally recognised and trusted spaces within Pakistani communities — their neutral, public character makes them ideal for equitable distribution events where people from across the neighbourhood can attend without hesitation.
